Bayovar project, Piura Region, Peru

Formwork supply capacity upon deadlines
Bayovar is located in the Sechura desert in the region of Piura, Peru.

Description

Bayovar is located in the Sechura desert in the region of Piura, Peru. It is one of the largest deposits of phosphate mining of South America, with an estimated annual production of 3.9 million tonnes of concentrates for export.

ULMA faced a challenge: the construction of two large silos. Each of 33 m in diameter and 55 m height, they consist of 0.4 m thick reinforced and six 0.7 m thick solid concrete walls, located every 60 degrees at the perimeter of each silo.

ULMA Solution

Both silos were built at the same time. ULMA supplied 100% of the material (480 tonnes) and excelled in efficiency with regard to delivery terms.

The large dimensions of the silos required the use of systems adaptable to the circular geometry, while at the same time, ensuring the best quality concrete finishing. For each silo, 72 panels of beam-based ENKOFORM VMK formwork was used on single-sided climbing brackets. Panel dimensions were 3 m height by 2.65 m width. Concrete pouring was done in 17 tiers.

Other ULMA systems used in this project were COMAIN Handset Formwork and BRIO Modular Scaffolding.
